i hate when a web page takes so long to open a link that i start clicking on other links in the same page. like on friendster, for example, when i click on gallery and then it takes so long to open that i click on something else in the same page after i see a cool photo. so then that just starts the long process all over again.
myspace has one of those stupid photo rating things for people who need to quickly lose self confidence in their apperances, or for hot girls to confirm that they're hot. so for fun i put one of my photos up for ranking. it defaults you at 4.0, and that's where i still am with zero votes. it would be awesome if that was a gpa scale, but turns out it's a 10 point scale. i was like dude these top 25 guys ain't got nothin on me. make that funny double negative make sense. the top ranked girls are mostly hot. some must've got in the top 25 on personality though, if you know what i mean. my impression of myspace is that it's for the models and other beautiful people. friendster is for the artsy people and the ones with their own styles. so anyway, i figured a lot of the models would be in the top 25, but it's not so. so either the models didn't submit photos for ranking, or the myspace public isn't so shallow as to automatically vote people to the top just based on photos. my guess is the former.
also in the myspace universe, a bemani group was started. they let anybody in because i'm in. for those who don't know, bemani is a term that describes the video games made by konami that are music based, such as beatmania, dance dance revolution, guitar freaks, drummania, karaoke revolution, and a bunch more. anyway, the group is kinda lame but i guess there hasn't been much bemani news and i guess i'm supposed to socialize with the other people in the group.
it's annoying when manuals for computer stuff comes on cds, and you're supposed to read the manual before using the computer stuff but the only to read it is to use the computer stuff. for instance, a cd drive installation guide on a cd. you need to use the cd to figure out how to install it but you need to install it before you can use the cd. that's the classic scenario. but now i found a new example. a monitor manual. you're supposed to read the manual on the cd to learn how to take care of the monitor. it even includes actual photos of the monitor in case you can't tell what it's supposed to look like. so i guess if you don't know what your monitor looks like you can use your computer to see a photo. i wonder if that issue ever came up during the documentation process. it was probably people with computer science degrees who came up with brilliant ideas to save money and paper. i mean i'm all for saving paper, and most people wouldn't read the manuals anyway, and it's easier to search through a cd version, but if the computer already needs to be set up in order to read the manual then they should at least give you that much credit for getting that far without a manual. by that point a person probably wouldn't need a "this is a picture of your monitor" section on the cd. how about just a "monitor - you're staring at it right now" section
i should've started this entry with something like "i don't wanna go on a rant, but..."
