THE ORANGE MOPED
THE ORANGE MOPED

To know a machine is to have reached your hands inside the oily, metal innards of it. It is to have fixed a problem with the machine and then find out theres a new one only to find out there never was a problem to begin with. To know a machine is to have sat on a curb in the middle of somewhere and say Why the hell?

The week spent on the road "that way" contained few moments of human entanglement. Ren showed no sympathy or regret. The week he spent on the road, he spent alone.

A moped is the vehicle of a loner. Motorcycles ride in gangs, cars carry groups, kids rollerskate together. The simple one-cylinder engine of a moped can barely carry a 141 pound passenger.

A short story by Jared Sosa. This is a short film in production. Ryan Lee plays the wandering main character , Ren who gets stranded in the city. Maggie Souza plays Hanna, a person who's been stranded in the city for quite some time. By chance, the orange 84' Garelli Basic that Ren is traveling on stops running. By chance Hanna is there to help him. Magically the moped starts running again. By chance Addie, played by Andrew Mowe, is there to steal it.
