Def Jam 3
Def Jam 3 is going to come out for the next generation systems. Now I know that there are way too many gangster video games out now, and most of them are bad, but Def Jam Vendetta, and especially Def Jam Fight for NY, were awesome. You'd think a game that was about rappers wrestling would be really gimmicky, but nope, it's a solid series. The gameplay is great, and just doing that probably blows away all the other hip hop and "street" games. Then the audio and visual stuff is great too. Probably the amin reason why the gameplay is so good is thanks to Aki, the company who made the game. They made most of the WCW wrestling games for the Nintendo 64. Those games all had great gameplay and mechanics, and the Def Jam series of games borrows a lot from that. It's actually funny though because the Def Jam games play like wrestling games, but they look like fighting games. I was really hoping for another sequel, and I discovered from goofing of on the IGN site that there will be a Def Jam 3, for the Xbox 360 and PS3. I was thinking that would be great, but then I also see it has EA listed as the makers of the game. For the other two games, Aki made them and EA published them, but it looks like for this next time EA is going to make the game as well. That has me wondering how good it will be if they mess with the Aki formula. They might make it worse, or try to make it more "mainstream" to sell more copies. I don't think Fight for NY sold that well. You can't really blame people for not buying it though. When you hear "wrestling/fighting game with rappers" you really can't trust how they say the game will be. We get burned so much with hip hop and street and gangster games that just use a good license to hide a mediocre game. So I'm telling you now, Def Jam Fight for NY is an amazing game, and worth whatever cheap price it's going for now. So get it now and don't wait until EA tries to mess it up in the next version.
